Everyone loves it when a new major project is announced for a downtown, right?

Not so fast.

Tampa business owner Blake Casper owns the Oxford Exchange, a widely known breakfast and lunch spot (among other things) near the University of Tampa. He's making it clear that he's not in favor of growth unless it includes enough space for retail, restaurants and more businesses in order to make Tampa a more "walkable city."

He recently started a "Tampa Deserves Better" campaign in opposition to a planned apartment complex going up across the street from the Exchange. When built, it would have 296 apartments and 5,000 square feet of retail space.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal talked with Casper about why he's opposing the project.
